Frequently Asked Questions – BMW CarPlay Activation
Does CarPlay activation work on all BMWs with NBT EVO?
Basically yes – but the fullscreen function is only available with certain software versions. Send us your VIN and a photo of your navigation version – we will check compatibility for free.
Is the activation permanently active?
Yes – Apple CarPlay is activated for life. No subscription, no recurring costs.
Does Android Auto also work?
No – Android Auto is not possible. The activation includes Apple CarPlay and Android Screen Mirroring.
Do I need a WLAN antenna in the vehicle?
Yes – a WLAN antenna is necessary for Apple CarPlay & Screen Mirroring. This is installed ex works in about 90% of vehicles.
What is the difference between USB and ENET activation?
For USB activation, a USB stick is sufficient (Plug & Play, 1–2 minutes). For newer software versions (NBTevo_P and higher), an ENET cable is required, which connects the PC to the vehicle.
How quickly will I receive the activation code?
Typically within a few hours of payment receipt and VIN check via email.
Important Notes
For Apple CarPlay & Screen Mirroring, a WLAN antenna is necessary in the vehicle (installed ex works in about 90% of vehicles). Android Auto is not possible – only CarPlay & Screen Mirroring. Please ensure your system is compatible.
