Fixing INPA IFH-0009 Error – No Response from Control Unit

The INPA IFH-0009 "No Response" error indicates a communication failure between the vehicle and the laptop. In many cases, the INPA IFH-0009 error occurs due to connection problems or incorrect settings.

When the IFH-0009 error appears in INPA, it is usually due to problems with the connection between the vehicle and the diagnostic device. The following causes are the most common reasons for this error.

Causes of the INPA IFH-0009 Error

Defective or incorrectly wired interfaces:

The error code IFH-0009 most frequently occurs with D-CAN+K-USB interface cables. These interfaces often come from China or Hong Kong and can be poorly manufactured or incorrectly wired. Sometimes, even suitable drivers are missing. Buying cheap import cables is therefore risky, as support is often unavailable when problems arise.

Wrong or incorrect interface drivers:

Many interfaces come with incorrect or outdated drivers. Without the right USB drivers, the cable cannot function correctly under Windows. Our software package includes compatible drivers for many common interfaces.

The INPA IFH-0009 error often occurs with connection problems and is frequently caused by faulty drivers.

Incorrect settings as a cause

Incorrectly configured interface cable:

A common problem is incorrect COM port configuration. The USB cable must be set up to function as an RS-232 serial port. Set the COM port to "COM1", set the latency to "1", and activate the FIFO option if necessary.

In many cases, the INPA IFH-0009 error is caused by incorrect settings or unsuitable cables.

Check pin assignment (very important)

Incorrectly wired interface:

There is no uniform standard for D-CAN+K cables. Different variants can lead to problems.

If the INPA IFH-0009 error persists, all connections should be checked.

Possible variants:

Pin 8 connected to Pin 7

Pin 8 not connected

Pin 7 and 8 separated

In most cases, one of these configurations works. Frequently, connecting pins 7 and 8 is the correct solution.

Further causes

Incomplete INPA versions:

Many INPA versions are incomplete or incorrectly configured. If all other steps do not help, a complete version with EDIABAS and BMW Standard Tools may be necessary.
